About Flux-fern
Crafting Professional Environments Since 2012
Flux-fern emerged from a simple observation: too many creative professionals were struggling with substandard studio environments. Musicians recorded in rooms that coloured their sound. Podcasters dealt with echo and outside noise. Video creators fought with inconsistent lighting that undermined their visual quality.
We set out to change that by bringing broadcast-level technical expertise to independent creators and small studios. Our founders came from backgrounds in BBC engineering, West End theatre production, and architectural acoustics. That combination of disciplines shapes how we approach every project.
- Technical precision backed by measurement and analysis
- Creative understanding of how studios actually get used
- Practical solutions that fit real budgets
- Long-term relationships with ongoing support
Our Methodology
Every project begins with listening. We want to understand not just what you need technically, but how you work, what you create, and where you want to take your craft. This conversation shapes everything that follows.
From there, we conduct a thorough site assessment. For acoustic projects, this means measuring room dimensions, identifying problem frequencies, and understanding the construction materials. For lighting, we evaluate power capacity, rigging options, and the specific requirements of your camera and broadcast setup.
We then design a solution that balances performance with practicality. Some clients need absolute reference-grade accuracy. Others need flexibility and ease of use. Many need both, which requires thoughtful compromise and clear communication about trade-offs.
What Guides Our Work
The principles that inform every decision we make
Honesty First
We tell you what will work and what will not. If your budget or space has limitations, we address them directly.
Evidence Based
Acoustic treatment and lighting design are sciences. We measure, test, and verify rather than relying on assumptions.
Built to Last
We install equipment and treatments that will serve you for years, not quick fixes that need replacing.
"Working with Flux-fern felt like having a partner rather than a contractor. They took the time to understand our production workflow and designed a lighting system that actually makes our daily work easier, not just better looking."
